Gallery walls, planned to the inch.

Tell Salon about your wall and your frames. It drafts the whole arrangement to scale, works out every mat and print size, and hands you a packet your print shop can cut from.

Add photos of your frames in the next step

A 76″ wall above a 64″ sofa, drawn to scale, with the matte black & white look applied.

From a sentence to a wall you can hang.

Four steps. The first draft usually takes under a minute; the adjusting is the fun part.

  1. 1Describe your wall

Write it the way you'd tell a friend: the wall, the sofa under it, the frames you already own, the feel you want. Add photos of your frames and your wall if you have them.

  2. 2Salon drafts it

Frames appear to scale on your wall. Your photos are placed automatically, and every mat and standard print size is worked out for you.

  3. 3Adjust it

Drag photos between frames. Try options A, B and C for a frame and compare them side by side. Crop, go full-bleed without a mat, heart the photos you must use. Save versions; undo anything.

  4. 4Get it printed

Take a print-ready packet to your local shop, with exact print sizes, mat-cutting measurements and downloadable files. Or order prints delivered from an online lab.

Every mat measured like a framer would.

Frames, mats and prints are all drawn in real inches. Salon cuts mat windows by the rules framers use, so nothing ends up looking off when it's on the wall.

  • The mat overlaps the print by ⅛″ on every side, so edges never show.
  • Borders stay at ¾″ or more, and you're warned when a print is too big for its frame.
  • A sharpness check shows the dpi at the size you chose and warns before a scan prints soft.

304 dpi at 8×10, sharp 148 dpi at 16×20, will print soft

One edit, every photo.

Phone snaps, old prints and fresh scans rarely match. Pick a look and the whole wall changes together. Your originals stay untouched, and you can switch back any time.

Matte black & white uses a tone curve measured from a real print lab's black-and-white edits: soft, lifted blacks and whites held just below paper-white.

Your thrifted frames, or none yet.

Found a stack of mismatched frames at an estate sale? Measure each opening, or snap a photo and let the AI read the sizes for you. Salon fits your photos to the frames you actually own.

Starting from scratch? Give it your wall width and Salon suggests standard ready-made frame sizes you can buy anywhere.

See it on your wall, not a white void.

Set your wall color, or upload a photo of your actual wallpaper. Put a sofa, bed or console underneath for scale. Then switch to present mode and see the wall the way you'll see it from the doorway.

Plan my wall free

It started with twelve thrifted frames.

Salon began as a family project: a black-and-white family-tree wall, hung in twelve frames that didn't match. Getting every photo, mat and print size right took a planner of its own. That planner became Salon.

Plan free. Pay when you print.

Most people plan one or two walls, so you pay once, only when you're ready for paper.

Questions

Do I need to buy frames?

No. If you already own frames, thrifted or otherwise, measure the openings or photograph them and Salon plans around them. If you don't, Salon suggests standard ready-made sizes that fit your wall and gives you a shopping list with links, so you can buy them at any frame or home store.

Can my local print shop use this?

Yes, that's what the print packet is for. It has a 300-dpi file for every photo, already cropped and edited, the exact print sizes, and the mat-cutting measurements for every window (size and distance from the edges), all behind a link your shop can open. It's $9 per wall, and free with any online print order.

What file sizes do I need?

Bigger prints need more pixels. Salon checks each photo at the size you choose and shows its dpi: around 300 is sharp, and it warns you when a scan will print soft so you can pick a smaller size or rescan. Phone photos are usually fine up to 8×10.

Is it really free?

Yes. Planning is free for good: drafts, the editor, looks, saved versions and share links, with no card needed. You pay only when you print, either $9 for the print packet or for the prints themselves. To keep it free for everyone there are fair-use limits: 5 walls (25 after any purchase), 200 photos, and 25 AI drafts a day.

Will it change my original photos?

No. Looks like matte black & white and sepia are applied on top, and you can switch back to the original at any time. Print files are made with the look you've chosen.

Can I share a wall before I commit?

Yes, for free. Send a view-only link to anyone. They see the wall exactly as planned, and they can't change it.

That empty wall has been waiting long enough.
